Science Fiction Trope combines immersive theater, gameplay, and technology to create thrilling, interactive storytelling experiences. We believe everyone should be able to join the fun.

What we’re working on:
THE TIME MACHINE: A SCIENTIFIC ROMANCE

The Time Machine: A Scientific Romance is an immersive storytelling experience inspired by the works of H.G. Wells.

In groups of four, audience members freely explore the space, solving puzzles and uncovering information about what led Dr. M and Florence to abandon their laboratory.

Years ago, we produced what we consider the prototype version in Washington, DC. Since then, room escapes and immersive theater exploded in popularity — but there's still tons of room for innovation.

We're working to remount The Time Machine using the latest technology and everything we've learned in the past decade, with a focus on making it accessible to as many people as possible.
A chessboard, green lamp and pile of old-looking letters.
Vials of liquid glowing under UV light.
An artistic rendering of a concept for The Time Machine 2.0. Four figures sit in a closed garage. The walls of the room have cracked open, revealing a giant screen displaying an image of a wormhole.
In the exciting finale, four audience members enter a garage and board Dr. M’s time machine. The walls spectacularly break away to reveal the space-time continuum, projected on a giant, wraparound screen. Armed with the knowledge they gained by solving puzzles in the laboratory, the team works together to pilot the time machine and correct paradoxes in the lives of Florence and Dr. M. before the universe falls apart.

The physical set, video and audio elements work together to immerse the audience in an edge-of-your-seat finale — powered by the Unreal Engine.

REVIEWS
"There’s no easy way to explain how utterly worth your time 'The Time Machine: A Scientific Romance' is without spoiling any of the fun. What I can say, however, is it’s one of the most inventive and endearingly homespun productions D.C. has seen this year." -- Brightest Young Things
"I don't want to say too much because this is really something you need to experience for yourself. The amount of time and attention that went into this is a little awe inspiring." -- DC Geeks
